SAFEGUARD XFR™, is a proprietary intumescent coating that was designed to protect against the rapid burn-through typically experienced by unprotected composite wood systems such as plywood, OSB (oriented strand board) panels and OSB webbed I-Joists. When engulfed by fire, unprotected OSB panels and I-Joist composite webbing ignite in seconds, with complete burn-through within minutes. This rapid burn is precious time lost to occupants and first responders. With the rapid expansion of wood frame structures, the responsibility of providing fire inhibiting wood components may soon fall upon the manufacturer/supplier. SAFEGUARD XFR is a water-bourne intumescent coating which does not contain co-solvents or heavy metals and is free of APEO's (alkylphenol ethoxylates). It provides an environmentally safe product in a typically unsafe category and is designed to be spray applied in a rapid flow, in-line manufacturing environment. It is safe to handle and offers many advantages to ensure maximum protection to the most critical areas of assembled finished products.
